«Problem Solver in the Office, Points Scorer in Rugby.»

Portrait of Patrick Schatt

Patrick Schatt has been working as a logistics and forwarding agent at IGP for almost 12 years. In addition to his varied work, he is passionate about digitalization and process optimization. In his spare time, he is a passionate wheelchair rugby player and competes in Swiss championships with his team, the Rolling Rhinos. We spoke to him about his day-to-day work, his hobbies and his fascination for new challenges.

How are you doing?
Good at the moment, I have a lot on my plate at the moment. I did a lot of training for the last Swiss Wheelchair Rugby Championships, which challenged me in a positive way. I look back on it fondly and am already looking forward to the next one.

You’ve been working in forwarding at IGP for almost twelve years. What do you like most about your job?
Clearly the variety of my work - no two days are the same. I particularly appreciate the interdepartmental exchange and the opportunity to play an active role in shaping things. This has enabled me to optimize many processes within my area of responsibility.

What makes a perfect working day for you?
It fulfills me to solve problems - especially when I can help others. Then the day is perfect for me.

What can you tell us about yourself personally?
For as long as I can remember, I have been a very inquisitive person and have been interested in a wide variety of things. I also enjoy learning new things and have recently been listening to a lot of podcasts about science, psychology and history.

What are your hobbies?
In my free time, I like to play video games on my self-built PC. I am particularly interested in strategy games such as Age of Empires, as I have a great enthusiasm for history. It is important to me that there is a purpose behind the game. However, my biggest hobby is rugby - more specifically wheelchair rugby with the Rolling Rhinos. We train every two weeks, and I play as an attacking player, so I'm the one who scores the points. Our team consists of four players, and we always make sure that there is a good mix of offensive and defensive players on the field. I've been playing since 2015 and take part in the Swiss Championships with my team. I've also had the opportunity to gain international experience with rugby, including several times in Amsterdam.
