Sustainability: Eco-Consciousness

Responsible Use of Resources, Raw Materials, and Energy.

Sustainability is firmly anchored in the corporate strategy of IGP Pulvertechnik AG. We take into account ecological, economic, and social aspects and ensure that our suppliers, contract partners, and supply chains comply with our corporate ethical values. Wherever possible, we choose regional suppliers to reduce gray energy.

Our powder coatings reflect our commitment to sustainability in many ways.

IGP Pulvertechnik AG is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. This means we handle substances responsibly.

  • Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

In April 2014, IGP was the first powder coating manufacturer to present internationally-recognized environmental product declarations, and we continue to do so today. These EPDs in accordance with ISO-type-III are based on the standards ISO 14025 and ISO 14040ff and the European standard DIN EN 15804.

Our EPDs are reviewed by independent institutes (e.g., Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. – German Institute for Construction and Environment in Berlin). They give you transparent and quantified information concerning the environmental impact of the declared products throughout their life cycle. This provides assurance for you that these powder coatings are sustainable and produced responsibly.

Besides the information with regard to the manufacturing, application, and product performance, a product-related impact assessment (LCIA) defines concrete environmental impacts. In accordance with the life-cycle-assessment method, all product-related energy and substance use as well as the specific IGP manufacturing processes are taken into consideration for the EPDs of IGP Pulvertechnik AG.

  • Effects of Application and Pretreatment

The environmental impact of coating procedures depends significantly on the pretreatment method and the chemicals used for pretreatment. For this reason, IGP does not include the application of its products in the life-cycle-assessment model for IGP powder coatings. Application covers pretreatment, application, curing, and transport to the end customer.

At your request, we would be happy to provide data for your specific type of pretreatment so that you can calculate and document the environmental impact based on your use case.

  • Corrosion Protection: Lasting, Guaranteed Retention of Value

Architects, planners, and engineers often choose steel as a construction material because it is cost-effective, hardwearing, stable, and extremely versatile. However, steel comes with a major drawback: it is susceptible to rusting. To retain the positive properties of steel over time, it requires an anti-corrosion primer and a weatherproof, practically impervious coating.

  • IGP-KORROPRIMER

IGP-KORROPRIMER powder coatings are the ideal single and two-coat systems for your steel constructions. They actively protect substrates such as steel or galvanized steel against all forms of corrosion and also enrich them with an outstanding aesthetic appeal.

The eco-friendly and extremely hardwearing IGP-KORROPRIMER systems are characterized by outstanding performance. Renowned institutes have certified them in accordance with the corrosion categories set out in DIN EN 12944-2. Furthermore, they meet the requirements of powder coating systems according to DIN 55633 for alloyed and non-alloyed steel as well as DIN EN ISO 1461 for hot-dip galvanized steel components in thicknesses of at least 3 mm.

  • Crucial for a Longer Service Life

Recognized certificates confirm the high anti-corrosion effect of IGP-KORROPRIMER systems. This protection makes a key contribution to the value retention of your investments and to the service life of the components. To achieve optimal corrosion protection, see the list of products by corrosion category ((link to functional properties)). We will be happy to advise you in person.

IGP-RAPID®: Coating new materials

The Revolution in Powder Coatings for Wood and Wood-based Materials.

The proportion of aluminum used in lightweight components and furniture is declining. Elements are increasingly being made from wood-based materials and medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Until now, powder coatings have not been suitable for coating such objects.

IGP-RAPID® heralds a new era for a promising market. This innovation breaks new ground, comprising high-performance powder coatings that IGP has developed specifically for coating these trend-setting materials.

The low temperatures, with curing windows starting at 130 °C and curing times of 3 minutes, are simply unmatched on the market. They enable all-round coating of profiles in a single operation. With these ecological and economical powder coatings, you can enhance your design, protect your products permanently, and at the same time gain completely new freedom to coat objects of any shape and profile with any angle. You can also choose from dozens of colors in a variety of gloss levels.

IGP-RAPID® is also first-class in terms of feel: with their pleasantly velvety texture, the coatings convey a tangible sense of quality.
