Yesterday's Apprentices, today's Skilled Workers

On August 1, 2022, Jana Rohr and Leandro Winkler began their training at IGP as commercial clerks. Since successfully completing their training in the summer of 2025, both have remained with the company and are actively contributing to its success. In this interview, they talk about their experiences during their apprenticeship and explain why they decided to stay at IGP after completing their training.

How did you become aware of IGP back then and why did you decide to train here?

Jana: A little more than four years ago, I was in the middle of the trial process. It was clear to me from the beginning that I wanted to do an apprenticeship as a businesswoman, only the right industry was still open. At that time, my mom read an article about the IGP company in the newspaper and suggested that I complete my last trial day at IGP Pulvertechnik AG. No sooner said than done. A few weeks later, I entered the IGP reception hall and immediately noticed the pleasant atmosphere. I immediately felt that there was a great working atmosphere here. From the very first minute, I knew: I don't want to complete my commercial apprenticeship here or anywhere else!

Leandro: I became aware of the IGP through the platform yousty.ch and also had the opportunity to complete a one-day trial day. I have very positive memories of this day, especially because of the friendly and friendly employees. I was also particularly impressed by the many benefits that IGP offers its apprentices.

What was your highlight during the training?

Jana: I thought it was very great that I was able to go through a wide variety of departments during my training. So I was able to meet many new people and gain valuable experience for my professional and private life. The annual apprentice camps were also a special experience. We had varied programs, got to know apprentices from other professions better and were always faced with new challenges. I miss this special feeling very much.

Leandro: My highlight during the training was definitely the language stay in England. I had a lot of great experiences there and made good friends.

What convinced you to stay with the company after your training?

Jana: Warm, open and helpful colleagues work here, thanks to whom I enjoy coming to work every day. The positive atmosphere and the strong team spirit make IGP a very special place to work for me. During my training, I also discovered my passion for marketing and thus my current role.

Leandro: Since I liked my training and the corporate culture of IGP, it quickly became clear to me that I would like to stay after the training. Like Jana, I was also very interested in my current area of responsibility during my apprenticeship and felt very comfortable in the team.

What are your tasks in the new role?

Jana: As Marketing & Event Coordinator, I work in two areas. In marketing, I can contribute my creative skills and support the team with social media, references, website maintenance, brochures, advertisements and various projects.
In the area of IGP services, I plan and coordinate customer training courses and ensure that every course day runs smoothly. I like this because it allows me to continue to maintain contact with our customers.

Leandro: As an Export Service Specialist, I also work in two departments. I currently work in Export Sales from Monday to Thursday, where I process orders, create shipping documents and communicate with international customers, among other things. On Friday, I work in the internal sales department. There I am responsible for preparing offers, processing customer inquiries and entering orders.

What do you particularly like about the current work?

Jana: I particularly appreciate the combination of creative and organizational work. I am just as enthusiastic about the versatility of my everyday work as I am about working with my team and our customers.

Leandro: I particularly like the fact that I learn a lot of new things from my more experienced colleagues and that I have a good variety between different tasks. What I particularly like about exports is the high flexibility and the opportunity to work very independently.

What tips would you give to new apprentices starting their apprenticeship?

Jana: Be open to new things, curious, eager to learn and, above all, stay yourself. Ask if you don't understand something, even if it happens several times. Because as they say: There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers!

Leandro: I also advise you to be curious and open from the beginning. It is important to ask questions and get actively involved. You should also take the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues. You also benefit from your time at vocational school – it's a great opportunity to meet new people. I myself made many great friendships there.
