Six Months of IGP - Our Apprentices Share their Experiences
Our apprentices in Switzerland and Austria started their training at IGP around six months ago. Since then, they have been experiencing exciting challenges every day, gaining valuable experience and growing both professionally and personally.
But what motivates them the most? What special experiences do they remember? In this interview, they give an insight into their day-to-day work, share their highlights and tell us what they particularly appreciate about IGP.
In addition to the technical expertise, it is the inspiring team, the varied tasks and the opportunity to contribute their own ideas that the apprentices particularly like. The practical training and support from experienced colleagues help them to develop optimally.
Motivation in everyday work
Corine (businesswoman), what motivates you to come to work every day?
Numerous things. I would say that the opportunity to learn something new every day is an important point for me, as is the exchange with the other learners. I generally appreciate the cohesion and open corporate culture of IGP.
What about you, Kiano (logistician)?
I am enthusiastic about the different activities that I am allowed to do every day. On the one hand, this keeps me in touch with different employees from different departments, and on the other hand, no everyday work looks the same to me.
Michelle (Kauffrau AT), how can you motivate yourself every day?
It's easy to say: I really enjoy getting together with people. I see work like family – you just grow together. I find the job of an office clerk interesting and gradually learn more about IGP. I get up every day at 6 a.m. and of course you are not always in a good mood or motivated. But I can motivate myself well by orienting myself towards my goal and thinking about where I would like to see myself in life. I am aware that apprenticeship years are not master's years! I certainly owe this attitude to my dad – my greatest role model. I admire him very much. He is very loving and has an open ear for everything.
And you, Yuliana (computer scientist)?
My biggest motivation is the varied work and the team. Although I was unsure at the beginning how I would find my way in an all-male team, I can't imagine a better team now.
Special highlights
Sina (businesswoman), what is your highlight so far?
There are several. For example, I think it's great that I can currently support a lot in marketing with work on the website. I also have very positive memories of the apprentice camp and the Christmas dinner.
What about you, Galina (cook)?
I have two highlights – on the one hand, the mock exam. There I was able to show what I can already do, and I enjoyed it. On the other hand, certainly also the apprentice camp, which I like to remember.
Was there also a highlight for you, Armir (Kaufmann AT)?
I am currently working in the accounting department and experienced various highlights in this department, such as the creation of accounts receivable and creditors as well as a larger, exciting project regarding freight rate controls. In general, I like the accounting department very much. Organisation, accuracy, complex thinking and finding solutions are required here – I like that!
And what is your biggest highlight, Sara (businesswoman)?
As with my other Swiss colleagues, the apprentice camp is at the top of my list. Since I was nervous at the beginning of my apprenticeship, the opportunity to get to know everyone before I officially started work made it much easier for me to enter the world of work.
IGP as an employer
Adrian (laboratory technician), how do you experience IGP as an employer?
For me, IGP is a great training company. The support is great, there is an open communication culture and a great team spirit. I also appreciate all the benefits such as the GA travelcard and the possibility to have lunch comfortably in the canteen.
What about you in Austria, Michelle (Kauffrau AT)?
Quite well, I feel extremely comfortable at IGP! I learn something new every day, even if I sometimes only listen in on the side. I am involved in the processes and independence is also encouraged. I experience team spirit 100% and we can rely on each other. So far, I've actually enjoyed all the activities.
Do you agree with your colleague, Armir (businessman AT)?
Yes, everything fits! I wouldn't have imagined it to be so good, because apprentices from other companies keep complaining about poor working conditions. I, for one, really enjoy coming to work. I appreciate the exchange, especially with my supervisor and trainer Alexandra and my colleague Denise, because they really have a clue. In my opinion, our core values such as team spirit and reliability are well lived. Everyone does their best to help others. I have also noticed how important partnership is in cooperation with other companies, e.g. to make processes more efficient, in accounting.
And what about you, Erdin (production mechanic)?
I think IGP is a very progressive employer. I especially like the relaxed communication with each other and the error culture. Like Adrian, I am also happy about the GA travelcard. Since I live further away, this is very convenient for me. I also like to use it in my free time.
