Project details
On the approximately 13,000 m² site at the corner of Schulstrasse and Iranische Strasse in Berlin-Mitte, a modern school campus was created, combining innovative learning concepts with attractive sports and outdoor facilities. Designed by a+r Architekten GmbH, the secondary school was developed according to the Berlin Compartment Concept and accommodates 664 students. The six compartments create flexible learning and social spaces that support a variety of teaching methods and strengthen interaction within the school community.
The school building is complemented by two stacked three-court sports halls, which are available not only for school activities but also for local clubs and recreational sports, thereby providing added value for the neighbourhood.
The striking facade design, with its colorful pilaster strips, is particularly distinctive. The vertical design elements were coated in eight selected shades from «Polychromie Le Corbusiers». IGP offers this original color palette exclusively worldwide as the IGP-DURA®xal 4201A deep-matte powder coating series. The slightly recessed window profiles, which are at the same height, echo the design concept and were finished in a neutral, metallic-looking shade of product code 4201E13212L3S.
This creates a harmonious overall appearance that effectively highlights the colored facade elements.
Colour that makes education visible.
