When corrosion protection becomes a sustainable investment

Corrosion costs the global economy USD 2.5 trillion every year. A large share of this cost could be avoided. Studies by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the World Corrosion Organization, based on five decades of research, show that targeted corrosion protection can lower these costs by up to 35%. For companies, this is no longer just a technical requirement – it is a tangible competitive advantage. This is precisely where IGP-KORROPRIMER comes in, with tested systems that combine protection, efficiency, and sustainability.

The problem runs deeper than many realize. In industrialized nations, corrosion eats up three to four percent of gross domestic product every year. Bridges rust, steel structures fail, and maintenance costs skyrocket. Companies that skimp on corrosion protection today pay twice tomorrow – through repairs, downtime, and reputational damage.

Protection planners can trust

Anyone involved in planning metal structures carries responsibility – for structures that must last for decades, and for decisions that cannot be corrected later. IGP provides the foundation planners need to fulfill this responsibility with confidence. The anti-corrosion effectiveness of IGP powder coating systems has been verified in accordance with recognized standards such as DIN 55633 and the Qualisteelcoat guidelines. This means they can reliably meet the stringent requirements of DIN EN 1090 for metal structures, creating a level of planning certainty you can depend on.

The IGP-KORROPRIMER range includes coordinated solutions for steel and aluminum. All series can be used with IGP top coats to achieve tested corrosion protection classes up to C5H in compliance with the relevant DIN standards and Qualisteelcoat guidelines.

IGP-KORROPRIMER 10

Series 10 is a proven epoxy primer for demanding steel structures. It offers very good adhesion, excellent edge covering, and strong barrier protection. Suitable for corrosion classes up to C5H.

IGP-KORROPRIMER 18

Series 18 was developed for thick-walled components. Curing starts at just 140°C, significantly reducing both energy consumption and process times. Protection classes up to C3H are achievable with high process efficiency.

IGP-KORROPRIMER 60 and the “O” upgrade

Series 60 is a universal polyester primer with a broad area of application, high UV resistance, and very good edge covering – including on galvanized substrates. It has been tested for corrosion protection classes up to C5H. The Series 60 “O” version makes processing even more efficient – with improved overcoating, higher coating thicknesses, and reduced overspray.

“V” versions are available for outgassing substrates such as galvanized steel. They allow gases to escape in a controlled manner during curing, preventing surface defects and ensuring uniform, high-quality results.

Lower energy use, longer service life

With IGP-KORROPRIMER, sustainability is not a buzzword – it is a measurable reality. Low-temperature systems such as Series 18 noticeably reduce energy demand while also speeding up production processes. Long-lasting coatings with high yields help conserve resources and extend the service life of components – with a direct impact on overall costs.

An investment in IGP-KORROPRIMER does more than protect metal – it helps preserve the long-term value of facilities, equipment, and properties. IGP Powder Coatings continuously develops its product range, keeping it aligned with the latest scientific findings and evolving market needs.
