Supply chain for powder coatings reimagined

IGP Powder Coatings has worked with logistics provider DACHSER to comprehensively analyze and restructure its European supply chain for powder coatings. This was prompted by increasing demands for delivery speed, flexibility, and transparency, as well as the high complexity of the product range. IGP offers more than 17,500 different powder coating variants, which customers throughout Europe often need at short notice.

As part of the project, all logistics processes, from warehousing and transport to order management, were examined in detail. Data analyses and various scenarios were used to determine how locations, goods flows, and inventories could be optimally organized. The aim was to ensure delivery capability, simplify processes, and reduce costs at the same time.

The result is a newly designed network for distribution and inventory management. An optimized location structure and clearly defined control processes enable goods flows to be efficiently bundled and coordinated throughout. This should enable short delivery times of 24 to 48 hours for customers in Europe.

The revised supply chain structure also increases the resilience of the supply chain. Bottlenecks or fluctuations in demand can be quickly identified and mitigated. Overall, a flexible, data-based logistics model has been created that better reflects IGP's complex product diversity and supports a stable and sustainable supply to customers in Europe.
